Sharon asks…
underwater digital cameras?
are any of the "waterproof" digital cameras made by companies such as canon, olympus, etc… suitable for scuba diving or do u need a case?

admin answers:
"Waterproof" doesn't necessarily mean you can take it underwater more than a couple feet.
You'll find a nice selection of underwater cameras at Underwater Cameras For Scuba Divers.
Just make sure the one you choose is rated to go deeper than 130-feet. That's the maximum depth for recreational diving.

Underwater camera bags?
Hi, I'm planning on doing some scuba diving on a trip to the Caymans in a few weeks time, and want to try and take a camera down with me if I can. I've already got a digital compact, so obviously would like to keep the cost down and get some sort of waterprrof casing for this. Does anyone have experience of using waterproof bags such as this one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200144917263&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:uk ? Don't want to get down there to find my camera's swimming and knackered!! Thanks…

admin answers:
I've not used a bag enclosure for a camera. Don't trust them. And I haven't heard anything positive about them past about 30-feet.
If it leaks you lose your camera. Better off spending the extra money to buy a quality case, or get a dedicated dive camera setup.
