Your Questions About Scuba Diving Underwater Pictures

Lisa asks…

Why does everytime i take pictures of myself diving underwater with my regulator mouthpiece ?

Everytime i go scuba diving i usually take pictures and sometimes my friend she takes pictures of me underwater with my regulator mouthpiece and i post them on flickr. I always get these lude comments that are sexually orientated. Why do i get these comments on my pictures ?? Should i remove the pictures ?

admin answers:

Some people have no appreciation of the joy we get from scuba diving. My best advise is ignore those comments if you want to continue uploading pics of yourself.

If you can’t ignore their RUDE comments take your self pictures down, then just upload pictures of the reef and fish.

Steven asks…

I need a underwater case for my Kodak Zi8?

I am going scuba diving next weekend and I really want to take pictures underwater. I have a Kodak Zi8. No more than $30 dollars.

Thank you. Please leave links.

admin answers:

I’m afraid $30 won’t get you a hard underwater case for your camera. You can get a cheap soft underwater camera enclosure, but you risk losing your camera, and I don’t recommend it.
You can find a good housing for your Zi8 here: Ikelite Underwater Housing for for Kodak Zi8 Compact Camcorder
That’s my affiliate link to Amazon. Ikelite is a well-known underwater camera housing manufacturer.
The hard cases cost more because they’re designed to both protect your camera from leakage at depth, and allow you to use the camera controls.

Mary asks…

Hi. I am brainstorming for my senior pictures and I was thinking underwater would be cool. Is that possible?

I would like it to not be scuba diving looking. Is my idea attainable under a reasonable budget? I really think it would be cool since I was on swim team also.

admin answers:

Ask your photographer about underwater shooting options, or shop around for a photographer with underwater capabilities.
You can probably hire a scuba diver to take your pics. Before you commit though make sure you’re okay with the photography skills of the individual.
